The Saturn Award for Best Actress is one of the annual awards given by the american professionnel organization, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. The Saturn Awards, which are the oldest film-specialized awards to reward science fiction, fantasy, and horror achievements (the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, awarded by the World Science Fiction Society who reward science fiction and fantasy in various media, is the oldest award for science fiction and fantasy films), included the Best Actress category for the first time for the 1974/1975 film years.
The Saturn Award for Best Actress is the oldest price to reward actress in science fiction, fantasy, and horror films: other awards such as Academy and Golden Globe Awards, despite being supposed to be regardless to the genres, only gave little recognition to its acting quality at the time. In 1996 the Saturns began to reward acting or television, and created the Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television. On the first two years it was rewarded there was no nominees announced.
Actress with the most nominations are Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman and Sigourney Weaver tied with five; Foster, Portman and Naomi Watts are the only actress to having won it twice.
